BadgerDave Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Time to pass on a couple of nice guitars. These aren't cheap, but they're rare and in great condition: 1. Solid quilt/flame Californian. Trans red. Body has a few cracks in the lacquer, neck is in great shape. Big frets, just leveled, crowned and polished. Brand new pickups (Duncan parallel axis), Floyd Rose Trem (Kramer logo, exact same model as the original Hamer version), trem posts, locking nut, retainer, etc. Original Hard shell case. This is a seriously nice USA Cali that has been completely rebuilt with brand new functional parts. All of the original parts are included and, except for normal wear and a bit of funky bar odor, are completely functional and in good cosmetic condition. $2,000.00 Yeah, I know, but Lady Scary has pretty much blown up the Cali market. I could get more on ebay. 2. Stupid rare flame burst '56 Historic Les Paul. Custom Shop Historic, Certificate included. Reversible mods include Lollar neck P-90, Rio bridge minibucker, Tone Pros locking bridge and tailpiece studs, full RS wiring kit including pots and corksniffer tone caps. Non weight relieved body, but amazingly light at precisely 8.5 lbs! All original parts included so you can restore this to stock and have a box full of bootiky upgrade parts left over. Big neck. 9.5+ condition, just a little light worming on the back. Pickguard is included, but the body has never been drilled for the mounting screws! Perhaps the nicest wide flame top I've seen on a Historic. $3,500.00 Add 3% for PayPal. I use full 50" x 20" x 8" guitar cartons and Lots of padding so shipping will run $50.00 for UPS Ground in the lower 48. FedEx and UPS have started charging ridiculous rates for 1-3 day air, but I can work with you. I'll ship internationally at actual cost. Offered here for a couple of days, then on to ebay. Sorry, no trades this time.
serial Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Not that everyone doesn't know this already, but not only is Badgerdave great to deal with-he also packs shipping boxes well enough to survive a 50,000 ft freefall from a plane.
oldmanbluez Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 That LP looks fabulous. My wallet however doesn't.
BadgerDave Posted January 2, 2008 Author Posted January 2, 2008 Thanks for the compliments and endorsements!I'm having a bout of brainlock - the Cali serial number starts with an 8. That makes it a 1998 model right? Or is it 1988?Why can't I remember these things?
sirDaniel Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 isn't that the Cali that MCC scouted for you?? a LONNNNG time ago (in a galaxy far, far away??)
BadgerDave Posted January 2, 2008 Author Posted January 2, 2008 isn't that the Cali that MCC scouted for you?? a LONNNNG time ago (in a galaxy far, far away??)No, this one was extracted from the Fung collection. McChris found a sunburst flamebody AND a granite finished Cali at Elderly. I believe the granite one was the very same guitar that Ms Scary recently acquired.
BadgerDave Posted January 3, 2008 Author Posted January 3, 2008 I've had several requests for more photos of the Cali. I've tried to show the lacquer checking, but it is extremely hard to photograph.
BadgerDave Posted January 5, 2008 Author Posted January 5, 2008 Cali sold pending confirmation by Buyer and reciept of payment THANKS!The LP is now on ebay.
Guest Mike Lee Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Dave,What do the parallel axis pickups sound like? I thought about putting some in my Diablo but the SD website described the PA's as "modern hi-fi sounding" which scared me away. I went with a Dimarzio Tone Zone / Air Norton setup, but I'm still curious about the SD's.
atquinn Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Dave,What do the parallel axis pickups sound like? I thought about putting some in my Diablo but the SD website described the PA's as "modern hi-fi sounding" which scared me away. I went with a Dimarzio Tone Zone / Air Norton setup, but I'm still curious about the SD's.I have a PATB1 in my Diablo (and I had a PATB1 Neck/Bridge combo in a previous Diablo). The Dimarzio Tone Zone/Air Norton Combo (which I had in yet another Diablo) were more "modern" sounding to my ears. The PATB1 bridge basically sounds like a smoothed out JB. The PATB neck sounds maybe like a Jazz with a bit more output and compression. In fact PATB in general have a very pleasant compression to them which I feel the Tone Zone in particular lacked (I thought the Tone Zone sounded great in the Diablo, but very different from a PATB1).-Austin
jerseydrew Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 The LP is now on ebay. link? I just found the link ebay link Dave, can I make a suggestion to you? You were so busy writing "amazing flame" in the title, that you neglected to write "Les Paul". You're gonna miss a lot of lookers because of the exclusion of "Les Paul". That's why I couldn't find your link at first, I typed Gibson historic Les Paul and yours did NOT show up. IMO, you should revise the title. Just trying to help
