Need input from Phase 90 owners

Howdy!

Just bought the Phase 90 off of here and was really disappointed to find out that it uses the 1/8 inch power supply rather than the BOSS barrel type.

Did they make a phase 90 version with the BOSS style adaptor?

The 9v barrel-style works with a Crybaby, and and ZW OD...

I can't speak to any newer reissue, Geoff, but the originals had no PS adapter at all and then later on, MXR relented and did the mini-plug thing. The Boss standard for power plugs came much later. Back then, I just ground a notch in mine and ran the two connector 9V battery dealie in there and wired it to a generic wall-wart.

The newest ones use a Boss style. I bought one for a really stupid project guitar to install onboard. Later I bought a used one to put on a pedalboard that was a little older (not original issue MXR, maybe a Dunlop version?) and it too has the 1/8" plug. To my ears ( and I'm not some OCD, picky about battery brand, tweaker type) the newest version sounds better than this one.

There's a few pedals I've come across that use those instead of the barrel type. My Klons have them as well as my Demeter Tremulators.

So the newest RI Dunlop Phase 90 has the boss style barrel?

Get the striped Van Halen Phase 90 RI from Dunlop. It does both the Phase 90 and Phase 45 sounds. And it looks cool, which is the important part.
