morningstar Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Got an A-7 from Peter. Super guitar, thanks Peter. After all the digging about, I have determined the Kahler is a 2300 black with the brass saddles. I have decided to replace the Kahler (as always the original will stay with the guitar). It doesn't really need a new trem, but I want to do it anyway.I note the drop in replacement is Kahler model 7300, with brass or steel rollers. As between Steel and Brass rollers, which is better for what uses? I do want durability, but the existing one has brass and has some serious body to its tone. Thanksmorningstar
serial Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 I've had both brass and steel rollers. I think brass was pretty much the standard and to my ears, it sounded better (less "clinky") than the steel rollered one I had.
murkat Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 set neck, you want brass saddle wheels, see if they have the heavy duty spring kit as well, tiz mandatory. thank me later
serial Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 +1 on the heavy springs. Takes the "rubber bandy" feel out of the Kahler and gives it a much more solid play.
Thundernotes Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 +1 on the heavy springs. Takes the "rubber bandy" feel out of the Kahler and gives it a much more solid play. Good enough that I won't block it out of frustration? I bend strings a lot and I finally gave up and blocked my Kahler. If the heavy springs will help with that, maybe I'll give them a try.
