DavidE Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 I have a JSX head that I never really played. It's in excellent condition. The original tubes have very few hours on them. Comes with the footswitch and manual. These are $1350 new. I'll sell mine for $900 shipped in the continental U.S.http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Pea...Head?sku=480114Tube flexibility and punch with easy-to-get modern screaming distortion. The Peavey JSX Joe Satriani Signature Head tears up the competition. Joe Satriani is undoubtedly one of the greatest guitar players of all time, and Peavey has built him an amp with the sound, feel, and flexibility he's always sought. With a punchy gain structure that boosts your playing with authority, this amp delivers sounds ranging from Classic 50 to vintage British, modern Triple XXX, and all the in-between tones. The versatile and comprehensive control section supplies a master volume pot and independent volume knobs for each of the three channels (Ultra, Crunch, and Clean). Tone shaping is accomplished through passive controls for Bass, Mid, and Treble on the Clean channel, while the Ultra and Crunch channels use active Bottom, Body, and Hair (lo, mid, hi) controls. The Clean channel is pristine yet warm and is specifically voiced to work well with effects pedals. The Ultra and Crunch channels have gain controls and fat switches to further assist in taming this thunderous tube-powered beast while achieving killer sound.Global resonance and presence knobs increase control of high-end tones, while a noise gate on the Crunch and Ultra channels cuts down on the excess noise generated by running the gain and EQ controls on high settings. Since the gate is fully adjustable, you can really clamp down, leave it slightly open, or just turn it off.The JSX uses 3 - 12AX7 preamp tubes and 4 - EL34 power amp tubes. The power amp section delivers an earth-quaking 120W of pure tube power and can be converted to 4 - 6L6GC. It is also designed to work equally well into 4-, 8-, or 16-ohm loads.Peavey JSX Joe Satriani Signature Head Specifications: * 26-5/8"W x 11-1/4"H x 11"D * 50-3/4 lbs.Peavey JSX Joe Satriani Signature Head Features: * Designed to Joe Satriani's specifications * Global Resonance and Presence controls * 120W of pure tube power * 3 channels: Ultra, Clean, and Crunch * 3-band EQ on each channel * Punchy high-gain structure on the Crunch and Ultra channels * Comes with EL34 tubes, but can be configured for 6L6 tubes * Fully adjustable noise gate for the Crunch and Ultra channels * Separate Fat switches on the Crunch and Ultra channels * All controls located on the front panel * Noise gate * Uses 3 - 12AX7 preamp tubes and 4 - 6L6GC power amp tubes * Master volume * Independent volume knobs * Passive controls for bass, mid, and treble on the Clean channel * Ultra and Crunch channels use active Bottom, Body, and Hair (lo, mid, hi) controls * 4-, 8-, or 16-ohm loadsIf you're serious about your tone and need a highly versatile all-tube amp, look no further. DavidE Posted April 6, 2008 Author Posted April 6, 2008 so you like your line6 eh?That I do. Worked great again last night. The JSX was always just too much amp for me. The amber channel is fantastic, but I generally wouldn't use as much gain as the third channel provides.
Siaip Ciuvas Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 remembered myself in my early days during Judo trainings, when the coach used to yell at me: "unleash yourseeeeeeelf, unleash yourseeeeeeeeelf" only now I've understood him, when got JCM800 and no pedal switching for higain-clean. Unleashed myself 120%... I'd love to get JSX, but its over the top amp for me.... But honestly - I am die hard Satch fan...
hamerhead Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 These are great amps. DavidE's a great guy to deal with. What more could you want?!?I love mine. A bit of overkill never hurt anyone. And it's not just a 'Joe's tone' kinda amp. There's alot to be pulled outta there. I've actually set mine up with the red channel for rhythm and the amber channel for lead. And the cleans are amazing. If you're not into the modeling thing, this is a VERY good choice.

I'll keep the few vintage ones and the ones I might use to gig with and the rest will slowly go. It really hurt when I sold my red tolex Prosonic this year.
Guest JackButler Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Nice amp. The JSX is my only amp these days..dumped everything shortly after getting that amp. I'm running the 212 version b/c I dig the half power switch on the back.. you can knock it down and really open the master volume up. Used that thing on stages with Matt Smith, Jodi Fisher, etc.. guys that know tone.. I got an e-mail back from Jody telling me how much he liked it.. that amp was on stage with Bruno mods, Guytrons, Boogies, etc.. not a shabby one in the bunch and it held its own with nothing but guitar, cable and amp.The tone controls on the 2 hot channels are active and the slightest bump one way or the other can really have an effect on the sound of the amp.
