luiss Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 There were 3 different Fernandes Brad Gillis models,I guess this model born about 1983 when Fernandes launched "signature" models(Brad was one alongside with Blackmore and Randy Rhoads). It would be interesting knowing which model is for sale. If it goes high in price there is a Tokai similar model I guess from Super Edtion series,have to check (also in red finish),it´s cheaper.
zorrow Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Never listened too much to Night Ranger, but Brad Gillis is anyway one of my main early influences. His solo in "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" was the first solo I seriously tried to play by following a tab and everything. This was long time ago. I succeeded only partially, but I did have a lot of fun. Later on, I also used his Start Licks video as one of my first chop builders -- still have the old VHS copy at home. I got very motivated when I noticed he had chunky fingers (like I also have) and was such a great player at the same time. I worked hard to copy a lot of his licks back then. Nowadays I still use my own variants of his climbing and descending chromatic runs. I also used to listen a lot to his "Speak of the Devil" live album with Ozzy. I naively used to say: "Listen man! Brad Gillis kicked Iommi's ass on this solo!" But seriously, Brad Gillis is to me one of the pioneers of the American way of playing heavy metal.
