Dean USA HardTail--For what it is worth?

Hello Y'all,

Due to be in need of a Floyd equipped electric/Carvin CT with Coil Taps--possibly one that Crabby has for sale) and some extra money to counter inflation I have been trying to sell my 2004 Dean USA HardTail.

It is in excellent condition. It has a very beautiful Quilt top in MidNight Blue. It actually cost a pretty penny when I purchased it in 2004, but I get the sinking feeling it is not worth half of what it cost me if I'm lucky.

I wanted to get opinions on what I might be able to get for it, and where would be the best place to try to sell it.

Thanks, Ted

The market is down in general right now, and has never been kind to the USA Deans, despite their quality and nice features. But it seems reasonable to expect at or near $1000 for yours, couple hudred more in better times. I wouldn't let one like that go for much less.

In fact in a different time/situation, I would take that off your hands right now....

Alas seems my timing always sucks......

Oh yeah try the Dean forum Trading Post at least.

Except that I've found that the majority of the people over there are even cheaper than over here! Most of the population there seems to be teenagers with a Dime-worship thing going on and not a whole lot of allowance money. That being said, there are a number of very knowledgeable people over there-you just have to wade through some of the HC-like posts.

Yes the plentiful Dime kids won't buy a Hardtail but there are a number of more experienced folks who pre-date that age/time who might be interested and probably do most of the buying and selling there.

What is a HC-like post?

HC= harmony-central.

Apparently the level of discourse on there can be pretty immature.

I've heard so many negative references that I haven't even checked it out (other than some reviews). Life's too short!

These are amazing guitars and unfortunately, both undervalued and appreciated.

IMHO... hold out until the market improves somewhat. It WILL ultimately sell... she's a beauty!
