morningstar Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 OK so I found a FITTED case for the Chapparal bass.I am still looking for a HAMER case for the Phantom A-7. Anybody got one or know someone who would like to sell one? BTW, I know about the Groove Pak generic cases at Sam Ash. I would prefer the correct case. Also who know how to get hold of the correct Roland pickup for the A-7? I don't even know what I am looking for.Thanksmorningstar
paults Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Thomas,Phantoms will also fit in the Cali/Centaura/Diablo cases. The A7 uses the internal GK-1 style pickup and electronics - the The STK-1/G-707 electronics, to be exact.See: http://www.joness.com/gr300/LPK.htm That site has a lot of good info.If you are planning on using it with modern synth modules or a computer, the Roland GM-70 is a very nice rackmount MIDI interface that will work with modern synths. They're not expensive. The 25 pin cables tend to cost more than the GM-70......
Nuclear Wessel Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Nuts. I sold one of those 80's Hamer fit-all cases a year ago or so.They're out there, Morningstar.
serial Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 I've got a case with nothing in it, but I thought it was a Standard case. Hmmm, it MIGHT be a Phantom-sized one. Paults-are you sure that the Cali/Chap cases fit a Phantom? Those are Strat-sized cases I thought and Phantoms wont fit in Strat cases-you need more of a Jazzmaster/Jag case for Phantoms I thought (it's been a LONG while since I had a Cali, but a Phantom won't fit into my Chapp case).
paults Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 At least one of mine is in some kind of Hamer case that doesn't have Phantom cutouts in it. That red 12-string that someone else has now is also in one of those cases. The cases have similar length and width as a Phantom case, but aren't as deep. I bought them a couple of ..um..er...decades ago, so I don't remember what they were for- if not Chapps, later shredders I suppose. Although, considering the store, they could even be Virtuoso cases
morningstar Posted October 11, 2008 Author Posted October 11, 2008 Wow. Thanks for the link. Now I at least know what to hunt for.I have a Cali and a Centaura but neither are in real Hamer cases (fooey). The A7 does not come close to fitting in either case (a Peavey and a Alvarez hard case).Steve if you have a non cut-out Hamer case you'd consider selling please email me. I am at hamernut at yahoo dot com Thanksmorningstar
GusS Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 i have a spare non-form fitted Hamer (Super)Strat/Tele) case, but I'm 99% sure a Phantom A5 won't fit in it because the top horn is too long. I will check and confirm tomorrow.
