mirrorimij Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 I didn't lose one but it is nice to know there are some honest people out there. I saw a 63 Strat the other day that was recently purchased for $500 by a guitar store in town. The owner of the guitar came in with the instrument and asked what is worth. The shop owner said $500 and bought it on the spot (even though he was aware of the true value). I dream about finding that yard sale vintage guitar but in the end I don't think I could feel good about owning a guitar that was acquired in that manner. Needless to say I won't be doing business with that shop.

The instrument's owner knew just enough to know he was being scammed. I was gonna tell him if he fell for it, but I'm glad he figured it out on his own. BTW, the shop went out of business. Karma.
carfish7 Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 What a goofy story!I think the guy that has is just spaced the deal and his wife got pissed. He'll "try"to find the rightful owner then when he fails, it will be his free and clear.Brilliant!Oh, and about the shop owner and the $500 '63 Strat, if the question posed to him was "what is this worth?", that is a douchebag move right there, but if it was posed as "what will you give me for it", all bets are off.I hope the Rocket gets to where it was supposed to be. Otherwise, it sounds like it might be donated to US military Vets. That sounds like a cool place to send some excess gear or some cash to to me, if it helps our brothers out by getting some jamming into their lives.Edited to add a linky - check it out.http://www.guitarsforvets.org/CJ
