atquinn Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 O.k., I don't have a duotone, and I'm not currently gigging, but I'm thinking of setting up something similar with my Parker, so I would like to know how those with Duotones do it. I want to be able to send the magnetic and piezo signals through separate processors and be able to select between having both, just magnetic or just piezo. I'm not going to separate amps, I'm going to a single set of full range speakers, so I guess I'll need to have some sort of mixer after the processors, but I don't want anything huge. Also, I can actually select the magnetic/piezo combinations using a switch on the parker, but if there's some sort of pedal or something I could use, that would be more convenient. So, can anyone out there let me know how they're doing this?-Austin
DavidE Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 Run a stereo cable to a Fishman Powerblend. There's one for sale on Harmony Central Classifieds for $115. The pedal acts as a volume control for the piezo, will split the signal into piezo and magnetic outputs, provides a preamp for the piezo with tone controls, ground lift, XLR out, 1/4" out, bass cut switch, etc.... It's the perfect match for the Parker.
Brooks Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 for acoustic duo gigs, i run the piezo output directly into my small yamaha PA.electric pups output goes thru a yamaha magicstomp (for slight gain, comp, & delay) into another channel of the PA. i leave the acoustic output full up at all times, and blend in the electric signal for solos via the volume knob on the guitar.
silentman Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 I run a y cable out of mine into a stereo A/B/Y switching box made by Startouch pedals. I keep the switch on the guitar in the middle position so both the piezo and mags are on. Then I just use the pedal to switch between em or turn em both on. Hands free and no popping noises. I looked into the powerblend, but if I recall your mag signal is on all the time? Is that right David? You have to monkey with the volume on the guitar which I was trying to eliminate. I wanted hands free and this pedal I had made seemed like the best way.
Caddie Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 The simplest setup possible. I have a Y cable with the electromag side going to my guitar amp and the piezo side going to the PA. If for some reason that is noisy (or if I forget my Y cable) I run a cable from the stereo jack to the guitar amp and another cable from the piezo jack to the PA.No complaints, I can work with it either way.
