cmatthes Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Here's another one off the pile... Honduras Mahogany back with a beautiful flame maple top, custom ordered from a Lousiana luthier. Body has not been routed nor carved, but has had the basic sanding done. Could be done as a carved/arch top with binding or a flat top with/without binding - they sky's the limit, since this is a blank canvas. Really nice job on this one! I was actually going to slap a 3 coil, Sustainblock and neck with a Standard headstock on this one ( !!! ), but have to take care of many other projects first, so something's gotta go. The pics do not show off the top as nice as it looks in person, and I did not wet it down or put naptha on it first - it looks better than this "as-is". This also comes with a gen-yoo-wine Hamer brushed aluminum cavity cover (NOS). Again, I'm going to open this one up to offers for now, but it won't be as cheap as the Tele bodies! This is not an auction, but I'll let it go to the first reasonable offer. To provide a reference point, the body cost more than $200 - but I am not expecting to get my money out of it, if that helps. Feel free to email me with any questions.

Guest pirateflynn Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 How thick is the body? It looks pretty stout.
Scottcrud Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 That Louisiana luthier wouldn't be Jagneaux Would it?
cmatthes Posted March 5, 2009 Author Posted March 5, 2009 I'll have to look up the guy's name - what I saw of his work looks like the same kind of stuff that Jagneaux, but this guy is in LA. The name escapes me, but I'll try to dig up an email. He's also done some really nice LPs and PRS clones and I've seen him/his stuff on TGP and another board or two.The body is actually the same thickness as the center of my LP Custom - the back hasn't been rounded/routed for binding though, and the top hasn't been carved. The Honduran Mahogany is @ 1 & 7/8" thick and the maple cap is 3/8" thick. If the top were "Dish" carved and bound and the back was either profiled or bound, it would be LP Custom thickness, if that makes sense.
