sirDaniel Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 I'm kinda thinkin' of makin' the plunge. Either one better? Does the stomp suck tone?

silentman Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Boss TU2. No need to spend the money on those fancy boxes that you use for 1 minute.
edgar_allan_poe Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Depends on what you want to use it for. If you are using a home tuner, then the VSII would be fine. The Strobo stomp is designed for live use. Its true bypass so it doesn't suck tone. But it also isn't as easy to get to the other programs as the VSII. It isn't hard, but you do sacrifice some flexibility for convenience. IMHO, the VSII is too large for easy live use. It would take up too much space on the pedalboard, and if you dont have several different tunings programmed, then it is a waste of space and the Strobostom will be more than adequate. Now excuse me while I go get my Porsche waxed.

tgoss Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Forget the TU-12 unless you're on a budget. Get the Strobostomp if you can swing it. You won't believe the accuracy and how good your guitar will sound.
silentman Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 You won't believe ... how good your guitar will sound. Depends how good you play, LOL
MCChris Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 You won't believe ... how good your guitar will sound. Depends how good you play, LOL And how precisely your guitar is intonated.
Guest teefus2 Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 i agree with poe on this one. make sure you don't get the vs-1 though. the screens lacked contrast and were hard to read if you did use them in a live situation.
bobbymack Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 I sold my VS II when the Strobostomp came out, no regrets. Poe's right re: home vs live use though, if you're playing live definitely get the stomp...
Caddie Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 I bought a VS-I a while back. I use it for everything, including gigs. Its a great tool, especially for setups. I have not experienced any problems reading the screen and its not too terribly inconvenient for gigs, I can live with it.If I were to buy new today I would have a tough time choosing between the VS-II and the Strobostomp. The Stomp would certainly be a superior solution for gigs. I'm not sure how it would work out for bench work/adjusting intonation/etc. I'd have to try it out. But with several people here saying they got rid of their VS-I and going with the Stomp or VS-II you could probably pick up a used VS-I real cheap.Noonan
