gorch Posted October 21, 2009 Author Posted October 21, 2009 I was bidding until some $950 but had to stop as I was planning to catch a VOX AC-15 TVL 50th Anniversary Combo Limited Edition at another auction. I know mahogany is wonderful wood. So, why not using it for a cabinet. The Vox has it. I have the VOX - hopefully auction clearance works well.
Pieman Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 I was the second-last bidder at $970. I was preparing to go over $1000 but I also was bidding on the seller's sweet quilt-top expiring ten minutes later. That didn't hit the reserve at $1425.

I'm trying to see if the seller can work something out. I'm surprised people weren't willing to at least match the less decked-out Standard also available.
Pieman Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 That's the inherent problem with a reserve sale. When you are the last bidder standing and no one is also bidding, you cannot raise your price to what is reasonable and be done with it.Earlier in the week I emailed the seller. Even though he invited questions, he never replied. That made me a little gunshy. On the lesser Standard he said it had fretwear AND it was "cherry/collector" but those are opposed statements. The photos weren't that sharp either. Anything over $1250 gets to be an issue for me under in this market and I was not ready to throw caution to the wind. I would rather wait to see what shows up at this board where there is some transparency and integrity still.
