anotherfreak Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Howdy back!do you know if the Goldtop has a spruce top???
Sam Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 do you know if the Goldtop has a spruce top???The requested metallic gold paint required that the top (which is normally spruce) be a piece of hardwood, and is likely the first Newport with a maple top ever produced by Hamer.
Sam Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 got too excited I guess That figured back is exciting!
burningyen Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Those Newport 90s kill me. Wish I could try one out in person.
GaryT Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 The Gold Top is nice and right up my alley with the Maple Top. And ya, the 90's are KILLER looking with Double Bound. I have to avoid NP auctions. I like the Newps way to much and they create GAS every time.
in_the_pocket Posted February 12, 2010 Author Posted February 12, 2010 And ya, the 90's are KILLER looking with Double Bound. Hey guys, thanks for the interest! And thanks Sam, for answering Freaky's question for me!I like the double-bound 90's as well, Gary. They remind me of the Gibson ES-330. My 90 is single-bound, however. I didn't think about it when I bought it, but it's the only single-bound 90 I've ever seen. I wonder how many single-bound 90s exist?
GaryT Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I'm not sure, a fellow had a Double Bound 90 on Ebay awhile back we were all watching. had a compensated bridge also. He had one heck of a time selling it but he finally did get his price. What he did was continue to put the guitar up with a .99 cent starting price and no-reserve. Couple times the highest bid was only $700 before he hit the 12hr window. So he would cancell the auction. He finally listed it for [i forget exactly] the basic price he wanted and he finally got what he wanted. But I'm not sure about the single bound models or which is the usual stock model and which is the rarer of the two?
in_the_pocket Posted February 14, 2010 Author Posted February 14, 2010 "Bump" for Saint Valentine's Day! It's time for a "sweetheart" deal on a Newport! Perhaps your "significant other" would spring for an addition to your collection? C'mon, help a poor graduate student out!
