Hmmm...

Ok... Yesterday I stopped in my local music store where I sometimes work part time. I am very good friends with the owner who is 70'ish and still runs the store in a very old fsahioned way.

Anyway, I pulled the new Sunburst out to check it out tonally etc...

The owner is a hugh Gibson and Fender dealer and was a Hamer dealer in the 80s.

While some regualr customers were messing with the Sunburst, totally going nuts over it, the owner says to me... "Who wants a Hamer, I have a ton of them at my house"...

Now, he's been known to pull some wild shit out of his ass. He dosen;t play but his house has been known to be like a second stockroom. "Oh you want one of those, I have one at home" has happened more than enough times,

So I say... "Are you fucking with me?"... he gives me that shit-eating grin and says he's dead serious.

Now I'm thinking NOS Hamers at 80's prices (dealer cost that is, I only pay cost there)

I will persue this and see what happens. He's also been known to bust my balls occasionally.

On another note, I weighed the Sunburst and it's a lovely 7.5 pounds!!!

The reason I went there was to trade an 2000 R7 for a chambered ash USA 62 vintage reissue Tele in red and a 62 vintage reissue Strat in Ice Blue with matching HS and S1 system... Both Limited Editions... both brand new and even trade. How's that for a hookup?

Thats all... :D

I know of two momnpopshops relatively close to me where the owner's got a stash of all kinds of stuff that just sits.

One has a room about 10x10 that is literally filled with old Fender amps he's taken in on trades over the past 30 years. You cannot walk in the room it's so full, you open the door and are greeted to squeezed in amps. The one at eye level is a blackface Princeton Reverb and I've seen old tweed between the cracks. Who knows what the hell is inside that pile.

Another has a storage room that's filled with cased trade-ins, again taken over many years. He believes in displaying his new stuff prominently and pulling a used guitar to fill a hole on the wall every now and then. That's how I scored a blue '83 (?) Prototype with factory gold Kahler at a bottomfeeder-approved price a few years ago.
