The Aqueos is a really nice lcd set.I'm sure you could find someplace to repair it, but for the cost of labor/parts you would be better off applying that money to a new tv. As far as the landfill issue, many cities have, *ahem*, "green" recycling centers for consumer electronics that salvage the good bits and properly dispose of the toxic stuff. You may even get a tax-credit receipt depending on their policies.
