Speaking of which, a black one popped up locally. I'm going to check it out tonight.

He's asking $450 (average condition). I have no idea what it's worth. Good price?

That's what I paid out-the-door for the one in the earlier thread. Tax included + a better than average gig bag. A A few dings and scratches, but it just felt different and comfortable. Mine was the original style w/ a plain headstock (no "Les Paul" script) in a gloss wine finish. They later switched to a "SL" designation (satin finish); the "SL" stood for "sans lacquer" of all things...

Well, I tried it and passed on it. The neck reminded me of Hamer's 'modern' carve, which I don't hate, I'm just more ........'vintage'. And the body thickness - or 'thin-ness' - threw me a bit. I was expecting more of the LP heft than that. It's like a Les Paul Lite. Or maybe Extra-Lite. It wasn't a bad little guitar by any means, just not what I had expected.

Anyway I didn't love it enough to drop $400 (he came down a bit), but if he calls and says $350 :) I might bite.

I'm curious if it's like a early '60's Melody Maker, as far as body shape goes. Body wise, I also wonder if it's as thick as a SG or MM. Anybody got pics?

I haven't played an SG for a while, but that's what the thickness reminded me of - but with a carved top. It had an SG-like snap tonewise, too.
