93 Special pick up advise..Lollar P90 vs original P90 Duncan

I have an original minty P90 Special (93) with the original P90 Duncans. 3B and 2N I believe. I've seen them described as Hot wound. They are gritty and I like their bite also they are already paid for. My first hamer I love it.

I have a chance to get a good deal on a set of Lollar P90 standard wounds.

Could anyone try and tell me what tonal changes I could expect? Also I am a little hesitant as the guitar is minty and untampered with so far. I like to play Blues and dig a vintage tone.

The lollar neck is awesome. The bridge is fine, but not quite hot enough for my tastes. If you've got a good deal on 'em, I'd say go for it. Specials aren't collectible so itks not like you'll be ruining the value of yours by trying out some different pickups in there.

Replaced the neck, and bridge SD hot P90's on my Monaco III WITH Lollars ( standard bridge, 5% underwound neck ), a big improvement to my ears, a fair drop in output, as I had expected, but far more complex, and satisfying tonally; I kept the middle SD in adjusting the PU height until it balanced output wise with the Lollars, this left me a lot more picking space where I need it most, and I don't really use the middle PU that much.

Thanks for the replys guys. One reason I asked was I am on a bit of a budget these days and was wondering what a swap might buy me. I am tempted, the guy will sell a set with all hardware for $120 I assume they work, they are on CL. If I check their resistance with my meter when I see them would that be a good indication?

Might be cool to have two p up sets for my Standard or could always sell a set. Kind of sorry to hear the Standard isn't collectible but it is to me anyway and now I am not hesitant about taking a soldering iron to her. May even install some shielding, just did my Tele, seems to help.

I am very impressed with my 1st Hamer I love it, it is a keeper I think. Also a Heritage and G&L fan, kind of similar stories I feel.

Thanks again for the advise.
