Emg sa pickups - any schematic?

Hi all,

I'd like to put three active EMG SA single coil pickups in an old Blade Levinson guitar. Can anybody help with a schematic for the wirings, or tell me where I can find one, for a DIY job?

EMG has schematics for everything imaginable at their website IIRC.

Don't forget that you'll need the appropriate pots (25 to 35K, IIRC) or the pickups will sound way, way too bright.

EMG has always used 25k potentiometers.

I was on the EMG web site last night, digging through the schematics. I've been asked to install an 81 and 85 in a Blacktop Strat. He bought them used; one's the new plug-in type, one's the old-style hardwire. The schematics I found were based on the newer plug-in system.

In reality, if you have the 25k pots, they wire up just like a normal set of pickups with the addition of attaching the red wire to battery power (grounds through the pickup ground, like phantom power). The battery is switched on with their stereo output jack.
