Turdus Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 What brought this on? I bought that first record when it was released.I've got all their stuff... the 70's that is. I think they may have done a record 10 years back, etc. Here's a cool story for you.... circa '99 I came across a Starz web page with CD-Rs of the first 2 CD's. I called the number, and Richie answered. Spoke for a good hour, and he autographed the CD's for me.Cool, eh?

My friend Joe is CRAZY about Starz and he turned me on to them in the 80's, but it seems the older I get, the more I appreciate them. This stuff, today, makes me feel a little like Kiss made me feel in the 70's.
Turdus Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 OK.. so did you know that Rex Smith and Michael Lee Smith are brothers? And.. Rex Smith put out a couple of rockin' records in the 70's, with his band "Rex" Here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJUtEhc83f8 and another good one....
elduave Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 I did! BTW, CB, I picked up Broken Hearts today for a buck.
princeofdarkness56 Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Had all their stuff. Just a straight ahead rock band from the 70's. Should have been bigger but Kiss had the jump on them and then Disco put a end to a lot of bands like that in the late 70's. Really loved those guys.
Turdus Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I did! BTW, CB, I picked up Broken Hearts today for a buck. That's cool... BTW.. have you ever ventured into Angel? Another good 70's hard rockin' band... and from the DC area also. "Helluva Band" is the one, if you've never heard it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRK_yLAypsA
Steve Haynie Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 A friend wanted a 2XL or 3XL Starz T-shirt and asked if it was possible. Richie Ranno had one made for him when they did a run of shirts for sale.

I used to think that was such a cool name.I'm not sure if it was Greg Giuffria being from Gulfport, MS, but Angel opened for a few bands in Biloxi when I was a kid (1 being Aerosmith on the DTL tour I think). Always put on a really good show.
elduave Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 I have a couple of Angel records.Re Broken Heart, I like it more than the first, but not as much as Head First. Waite is doing some solo shows in the region. I am so there.
