etherinfinity Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Hi everyone, this forum is an awesome resource, I've learned a lot just by lurking through and reading.I've got a '95 Studio that I picked up a long time ago -- I've got a few bucks burning a hole in my pocket now, and while I was *this close* to just picking up something new, I've played this guitar for 10 years, and I love her to death. That said, I think I'm going to drop a few bucks on giving her some new bells and whistles.I've seen the TonePros wraparound bridges recommended a few other places on this forum for the '95-'96 models that use the Wilkinson hardtail, but I'm curious whether anyone has any input as to whether this actually improves the sound/intonation or not. I do a fair bit of playing in C standard (Queens of the Stone Age-ish), and everything gets pretty sloppy when I'm tuned down that far. Would the Tonepros bridge with the locking studs help? Anything else you would recommend? Thanks.Regards,Matt
MCChris Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 I put a Tonepros on mine not long ago. No discernible difference in tone to me, but for certain there's increased intonation capability. I don't think the folks at Wilky had big-time drop tunings in mind when they set the saddle length for those wraparounds.

Did you get the posts and locking studs?
MCChris Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Chris, where did you pick up the TonePros from? Did you get the posts and locking studs? It was included with another guitar I bought, but I put it on the Studio instead. It came with all the parts I needed. That's about all I can tell ya. BadgerDave knows a lot about the TonePros stuff as far as specific questions like metric versus standard, etc.
silentman Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 ... but for certain there's increased intonation capability. What? Pussy.
MCChris Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 ... but for certain there's increased intonation capability. What? Pussy. I never said I took advantage of that capability. I was simply stating a fact. I put the TonePros on there because it looks cooler.
mrhappy Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Maybe you'd be better off with something like this http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,_tailp...und_Bridge.htmlif you're gonna be tuning down that low. It would probably make it easier for frequent adjustments.

tomteriffic Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 It's all aluminum and I'm not sure that the TonePros is. It's very lightweight and resonant. I have one of the non-intonatable ones on a Special and it just zings.
KeyOfZ Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 ... but for certain there's increased intonation capability. What? Pussy. BWAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh man, that one had me rollin' silentman.... I totally imagine Clint Eastwoods Dirty Harry voice.
