backinit Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 I may be looking for a beefy after market neck to go on a American strat body. I prefer medium/jumbo - jumbo frets. As a guide, I prefer the KWS fender neck, but I'm not willing to pay $325 as per Ebay prices.Any ideas?TIA!
cmatthes Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 I have gotten some SCREAMING deals on Muskraft necks, and the quality is out of this world. Definitely worth checking them out.
svl Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 How does the Muskraft compare to Warmouth? Have a Frankie clone I need a neck for.
zenmindbeginner Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Mighty Mite has really stepped up their game in the last few years FWIW. Birdseye flamey necks for dirt cheap. The frets are finished and polished and the wood is straight as shit. They have adressed every past complaint about their necks. We are talking $100-$120 for birdseye necks. I needed a highly figured maple strat neck and wanted to spend as little as possible. I'm blown away because the craftmanship is just as good as my USA strat neck.Oh and svl, check out Divebomb guitars for a one stop Franky clone shop.

svl Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 zen: yep, know Divebomb, great stuff. I'm actually looking to use a neck I dig versus going total clone (the guitar is a close clone now with a Kramer style neck, but maple boards just ain't my cup o tea- plus I wanna put one of my Kahlers in her, just haven't gotten around to routing her yet). I'd actually love to get a vintage Sunburst or Special neck to rig on her, but haven't found any yet, that's why I was looking at Warmouth. Been tempted to sell the Frankie, just because she's just been sitting there neglected while I keep getting other Hamers to "cheat" with...

You fookin' rahked that sumumab**ch... I mean, it is perfect. I had forgotten about that kick ass room of yours, if I ever make it back to chi-town, you should let me soak in it's glory. Kudos to your traditional period correct tremolo too. A hallmark of esteemed and advanced VH freaks is that they know that Eddie never recorded with a Floyd if he could help it. Me likey. You could canabilze a rosewood Daytona, which is what I would do. You'd have to part it out and it would be slow to get your money back, but if you're not in a hurry, it would be the ultimate Franky. I might do that to my maple boarded Daytona, I'm on the fence about it though...
svl Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Many thanks, zen. And indeed next time you're out this way you're always welcome. And yeah, she's pretty close to clone perfect, that's why I haven't routed her for the Kahler. I love her as a clone, and though I want to play her BAD she's just not what fits me. I hate just having her as wall art, it's a sin, but so is bastardizing her to be a Kahlered rosewood jobber. I'm torn. I also picked up an official EVH Frankie clone PUP, the one signed by Eddie, to put in her, along with an overpriced EVH pot.
