Price check? VHT amp inquiry

Saw a VHT Pittbull45 combo for $750 "with case". I recall these getting great reviews as super-agressive amps and was wondering if this was a good deal, meh, or "get thee to the credit union immediately".

I'd like a smaller combo capable of hanging with any live situation I might encounter, but buying another Mesa MK series or the like seems less than adventurous. What say you about these amps and this deal in particular?

I have the head version (even harder to find) and they run in the 800+ range. As a combo -with- case, that's a great deal.

Super aggressive? Never used it for that, but tweak the settings and it should get you there.

Make sure its a 45. They made a 50 watt.. same size, same controls. The 45 should have a chrome/mirror like faceplate, and also check for the tube rectifier.

The 45 is a great combo.. I've had several. I did not find the 50 to be as sonically pleasing. $750 with case is a good deal.

Looks like a chrome grille is present. Don't know about the rectifier. Funny - there's a 50 locally, too - for $750 with a flight case!

Can anyone confirm or deny that these are heavy, heavy beasts (physically that is)? Is the effects loop footswitchable?

Oh, and I got the "aggressive" bit from reading an old amp shoot-out from GP, which used the word "ferocious" to describe the nature of the amp in question - not that I'm at all about that kind of thing............

I've got a pittbull classic, they are heavy heavy beasts. My effects loop is on the footswitch but I dont know if it is the same on the 45
