Ting Ho Dung Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 I have a '94 Daytona SV that is fitted with a T-51 neck. A strat neck won't fit this body because the T-51 heel is about 3/32 thicker, i.e. fret board to back. Is this the only difference between the t-51 neck and Daytona neck? I have never played a T-51 and apparently never played a "standard" Daytona. This came from Hamer this way. The neck pocket is very tight as with all Hamers. There is also no holes drilled on the back of the guitar for a spring plate. This also came stock with EMG SV's. Any ideas out there about this guitar? I'll try to put up some photos tomorrow.Thanks,--Michael
cynic Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 I was under the impression the Daytona and T-51 necks were identical, but could be wrong. But of the Daytona's I've seen, no standard Fender style strat neck will fit any of them. I believe they all have the squared heel similar to a tele.
Bloozguy Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Hey...you've got my neck!!!...just kidding!!! I have a T-51 with a 1996 Daytona neck on it. I'm not certain how it came from the factory, but I suspect not with this neck. A Strat neck won't fit a Daytona because the neck heel is square just like a Tele. Other than the headstocks, Daytona and T-51 necks are identical. Wanna trade necks?
Ting Ho Dung Posted December 16, 2011 Author Posted December 16, 2011 Okay, Thanks for your replies. I looked up my serial # in the Hamer Registry and it specifically said "Daytona T-51 neck". The others I looked at didn't mention a T-51 neck. Being this is the only Daytona I've ever held in my hands, I didn't know. Then I got curious and started pulling necks. Blah...that was a lot of time wasted. Thanks for your help. Bloozguy, I've never compared head stocks. I'm going to post pics of mine soon. Can you post your head stock. Maybe we need to trade,
cmatthes Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Ray is correct. The necks are the same (square/Tele-style heel), but the headstocks differ. T-51: Daytona:
Ting Ho Dung Posted December 17, 2011 Author Posted December 17, 2011 Thank you for your pics. I do have a Daytona with a T-51 neck from Hamer. I'm still not sure if there is a reason for it other than cosmetics.Thanks,--Michael
harry65 Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 having owned a few of both , they are swappable , i don't know of it's by design but the t51 necks are a little fatter and the daytonas a little slimmer............
