copper blue Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 I was thinking of trying this out..anybody have experience using Re-ranch products?
bobbymack Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 Yep, it's good stuff. I did a USA Custom neck in the vintage Amber tinted stain and sprayed it out with nitro...for a 1st time effort I was pleased with it.
lonote049 Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 I have never personally used their products, but I have a couple of friends who have and their experiences were like bobbymack's...first class products.
serial Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 Bobbymack-was there a lot of sanding, levelling, etc or did you just spray on a few coats and then finish sand?
Submariner85 Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 I've used it a bunch and it's worth the money and wait (but they usually have it here within about 3 to 5 days via UPS). The great thing is there is hardly any curing time. Easy buffing, comes out smooth and SHINY and hard.A couple of mine turned out rough but that was only cause I didn't care about a 20 dollar pawn shop pos guitar and didn't take the time.
Stike Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 Bill uses quality lacquer, can't say the same for other spray bombs out there.
bobbymack Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 Bobbymack-was there a lot of sanding, levelling, etc or did you just spray on a few coats and then finish sand? I had USA Custom finish sand the neck (rock maple) for me, and it was ready to spray. I sanded lightly between coats. And yeah, it dries nice and hard. I used the satin finish and it came out great feelwise, with zero stickiness...
copper blue Posted September 30, 2005 Author Posted September 30, 2005 looking more and more like I'm going to do this..some questions for the refin'ers here..1) When I'm sanding between coats, do I just take the gloss off the coat? then wipe and respray? lather.rinse.repeat?2) how long should I wait between coats?3) I've read that you can get the same type of paint at autobody stores?any other tips would be grand...thanks..
