Then Black wire just gets taped offConnected this, and the bridge pup sounds fine, but both pups on sound out of phaseShould the black w/bare (ground) wire go to the bridge vol pot??Why would it be out of phaseNoobie to soldering needs help!!
murkat Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 magnet orientation on the Jone's pup.flip the wires to match the seth non out of phaseness.hot> grndgrnd> hot
zenmindbeginner Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 If the TV Jones was wired like the Seth and had just one conductor and using the sheath as the ground, you'd have to flip the magnet. But there are two conductors and so just switch the white with the black. Typical problem when you use mix pickup brands. It's too bad Murkat doesn't live in our brains... but his FREE help is extremely valuable and kind for a guy that does this stuff for a living. He could just say, "send it to me and I'll fix it" but he doesn't because he has principle and morals. Murkat, you are the SHIT!!!!!!!!!

Gonna give it a shot on my Studio - quick question
The braided wire on the Seth Lover ( bridge pup) is soldered to neck vol pot, and the bare wire to the bridge volume pot
Replacing that pup with a TV Jones which has a black and silver wire together and a separate white wire
If I read their diagram correctly,
White = hot goes to the bridge vol pot?? Then Black wire just gets taped off
Connected this, and the bridge pup sounds fine, but both pups on sound out of phase
Should the black w/bare (ground) wire go to the bridge vol pot??
Why would it be out of phase
Noobie to soldering needs help!!
