Cruise Bass Neck

Question

I have a 2nd Generation Cruise Bass that has had the truss rod tweaked a lot long before it came into my possession. The neck needs to be a little more straight than it is, and so far no truss rod tool will fit over the end of the rod enough to make an adjustment. Instead of getting a truss rod tool and drilling out the back end of it, the bass may go up for sale as is or for parts.

It has been suggested that I add some kind of spacer or washers if the truss rod is to be tightened anymore. The neck might be salvageable, but the risk of breaking off the end of the truss rod has me worried.

Does anyone make a replacement neck that will fit the Hamer neck pocket?

What would a body/electronics/2-Tek be worth without the neck?

hey steve,

You could~

A. Dremel off the protruding end of the rod with a cut off wheel.

B. shim with a washer or two.

Either one will suffice without ill effect

and will be able to adjust properly.

What's up with that funky nut?

What's up with that funky nut?

Me thinks that

either they (Hamer) miss the mark on the Truss rod stopper at the heel.

or

a soft route at the heel for the stopper and it just kept moving up till it stopped.

( happens all the time at the GCS on a daily basis, and guess who got to fix them...)

No, the nut. It's protruding past the sides of the fretboard.
