Celtic_Bill Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 I have a 335 and an Explorer, I've played thru dozens of Les Pauls, not comfortable at all playing them, so I don't own one. The 335 has a slim neck, perfect for smaller hands, and the Explorer is surprisngly one of the most balanced guitars I own. Bought my first Hamer (Chapparal) in 1987, and put 100,000 road miles on it between 1987 and 1990, gigs and studio work, love the neck, the pickups, and the shape. I couldn't justify buying a guitar that I knew was a chore to play, just for the "look".
zorrow Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Strangely enough, it's the neck on Epiphone Vees the one I seem to like the most. Gibson owns Epiphone, so... Also, Hamer won't build me a 7-string V. Gibson would, so... However, as of attention to detail and excellence goes, Hamer wins all the way, no doubt at all.
diablo175 Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 I couldn't justify buying a guitar that I knew was a chore to play, just for the "look". My LP Axcess is not the most playable ax I've owned . Truth is, aside from it's aesthetic and iconic attributes, it doesn't have the most lead guitar-friendly design for my fingers. Yes, it has a lot of tonal capabilities w/ the Floyd, the coil tap and the multiple volume/tone knobs.Hopefully, after I replace the horrendous BB p'up with a Murkat special, she'll sound even better. But in the end, it's 22 frets with less-than-stellar fret access. Great to look at but not my fave for soloing.
