cswilder Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I'm selling a nice factory fretless Precision bass from 78. Its maple board has no lines of any kind, just side dot markers. The body is ash and shows some small dings and the beginings of laquer checking. It's in remarkably good shape and includes the OHSC with one non-functioning latch. The case is in good condition for its age. The original bridge cover is included but not installed. The bass is strung with 1/2 flats and appears to have been used with flatwounds or 1/2 flats most of its life. The board is in very good shape and doesn't show signs of being used with roundwounds. The bass is all orginal. It plays and sounds great. There are no structural or functional problems, I'm just not getting along well with the lack of fretlines. I'll be putting this on ebay tonight and I expect it to fetch in excess of 1K, but I'm offering it here first for $950 shipped in case anyone is interested. Guest galejt Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Aw geez. I don't even play bass and I want that!Sweet.
Jimbilly Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 That's nice! That neck is really unusual, and I'll bet it makes for a great fretless sound. I've got a '79 P (fretted), and also picked up a '79 fretless P neck (rosewood). I suppose I don't need another. ;(
marcnorth Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Thats a good looking bass. I picked up the fretless Chap that Peter had for sale a while back and it's pretty cool. It's not as hard to play as I thought it would be.Wish I had the funds for this one but I just can't swing it right now.
MCChris Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 That bass makes me think of "Frampton Comes Alive!" Very cool!
Rockola Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 That bass makes me think of "Frampton Comes Alive!" Very cool! Sting on the back of Zenyatta. Cool.
kizanski Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 That bass makes me think of "Frampton Comes Alive!" Very cool! ...and most post-"London Calling" Clash.
