I have an interest in the P-90 Specials and happen to have a line on a 1993...I am curious to all that own one, what your feel of the neck sizes are like. I've read many a thread that the early 90's Hamers have smaller necks...would this ring true for a majority of them, or, are they all different?

I guess I am also wondering the definition of small as well...I currently own an Artist Custom, with a nice beefy neck...and really like it. My 1995 Studio had a smaller neck, but not an unplayable small.

Also, this particular 1993 is TV Yellow...if anyone owns one of these, my question on that is...does the wood grain show through?

Thanks for the information.

93 Specials are great. I had one with P-90's. Think Missisppii Queen tone. My neck was medium. I personally love thin neck ones. Don't know why so many people knock them.

92' with a skinny..... I don't know if it's true but I"ve heard of more 93' FM's with mediums. The 92' is like most 93's If played. I could live with the neck but I couldn't live with the Custom/hot Duncan p90s... I sold the guitar a while back.

Craig S: What were your issues with the Duncans? I believe I've played the Duncans in a Monaco III...but with an added PUP, of course...are they one in the same?

If they are the same, I actually liked the sound.

Thanks,

To hot to my ears.... As I said I sold the 92' because of the pickups... I'm now using a singlecut LP Special with a Fraling 10% overwind in the bridge....this guitar is one of my all time faves. The Hamer Special was also very cool but the thin neck combined with the hot pickups was not my taste. If it would have a larger neck I would have maybe done a pickup swap which i don't like doing anymore. Difference is the Ducans were bright and the Fralin has a mid range "toughness" to it... Hard to describe but if you heard it you would know what I mean.
