Duo-Tone - Do I Remember Incorrectly?

Question

I have a three-hole Hamer Duo-Tone - it seems to me that with the mini-toggle switch in the middle and a standard cord plugged into the top output jack, I used to get a blend of the magnetic pickups and the piezo. Now I don't get the blend - just the mags. The other jack gives me just piezo. Am I imagining things? The wiring looks solid - no broken wires or anything.

Mine is not the 3 hole version. But on mine the top one is a stereo out. I use either a stereo to mono cord into a single amp and a stereo cord into an a/b/y box to run into 2 separate amps---The best way to go IF you can deal with that much gear.

(You can also use two mono cords, each to a separate amp).

My 3-holer has two outputs for electric & acoustic sounds but not one that will do both. sounds funny like that :)

each output is separate, to use both you need two patch cables

My Godin does have a third jack that will switch back and forth with one cable, but sending an acoustic signal to an electric amp or vice versa is not a pleasent tone. Not the stock Duo-Tone 3-holer

Thanks. I thought I was losing it for a bit there. My Petrucci does the blend on the mag output, and I somehow convinced myself that the DuoTone did the same.

Ah well - it needed a new 9-volt anyway!

I have other guitars that have a "smart jack" that will "detect" whether you insert a mono or stereo jack. I think that is a superior solution. As an earlier market entry (for piezos), I guess that did not make it into the Hamers, at least the ones I have played.

Not sure about a three-holer, but on a custom, if you wire a stereo jack on the guitar end to a mono jack on the other, you'll get both sounds, sort of. The volume knobs effectively become on-off switches for each side, with little to no ability to mix the sounds. I did it in a pinch recently where space was at a super premium, but I doubt I'll do it again.
