Kilroy is all about... Posted March 22, 2005 Author Posted March 22, 2005 '81 'THE V' in tobaccoburst, as per the Blue Book of Electric Guitars, page 376, describes the 'v' as follows:THE V (1983) - mahogany V-shaped body, mahogany neck, 22-fret ebony fretboard with pearl dot inlays, tune-o-matic bridge/stop tailpiece, 3 per side tuners, chrome hardware, 2 humbucker pickups. available in antique natural, antique sunburst, or vintage cherry sunburst finishes.Obviously, this aforementioned source is an industry standard, but it is wrong, because this V has an '81 stamped date on the head stock. Apparently, there was a very small 'trial' run of these 'V' prior to the officially sanctioned production in '83.At any rate, she's the cleanest in terms of appearence and original hardware as those DIRTY FINGER pups are quite responsive and loud. It's the les paul appointments and the smokey pups are that important features that give this gibber some distinction for the normal lot of 80s gibsons.kilroy updates..
