Hamer celestial

I have a 1989 celestial finish I'm looking to sell. It's in great condition with no fret wear and was recently set up. I was wondering what it may be worth. There are some scratches on it but it was hardly ever played.

Honestly, there is no way to know what it is worth.

They are rare enough that there isn't a clear market.

Plus, board rules prevent you/us from just throwing out offers...if you want to use this board to tell you how much it is worth in definitive terms, you pretty much just put a price on it,and see if anyone jumps at it.

The other definitive way to figure out what it is worth is to put it on ebay.

Even with more common guitars, I've seen the Californian market vary wildly. For a while you couldn't buy a Cali for less than $1k, and ones with boomers or other special aspects would get $1500 or so. At that time, a custom graphic Cali might have gotten $2k or more...I think I saw one go for $2300 once.

But now, I've seen a Cali go for as low as $600 lately, and seen a Cali with boomers languish at $1400 unsold. In this market, you could put it up for $1500 and if no one interested has the cash, it could go unsold. That seems unlikely to me, but you never know.

A more rare, more expensive item needs a buyer with money and willingness. Just the fact that it is a Hamer USA means all the Gibson/Fender snobs won't care, but the custom graphics will push it out of range for many of the HFC members.

Still, if you find the one guy that simply MUST have a celestial Cali, you have him over a barrel and could $5k. Again, unlikely, but anything is possible.

I hope that helped, but it probably didn't.

A Celestial Cali with boomers could easily be in the $2k range. No way in HELL would it be a $5k guitar though. They're rare, but not THAT rare! :D

You'll need to either post it on eBay or pick a price to post it here, or we'll have to close the thread though, since we don't allow "virtual auctions" here. Very cool guitar indeed.

Thanks!
