Is this Hamer case for a Daytona or not?

DSC01008_zps5feb8584.jpgI need some help here definitively identifying a Hamer case.

I recently bought it off of Evilbay thinking it is / was a Daytona case (smooth transaction). It's in very good shape, but it has this padded neck support block in the center of the case interior that is not in any of my other Hamer cases and this part looks to be a factory item - not added later. It also has all silver hardware, double stitched end caps, has the older style spring case latches and is about an inch and a half shorter than my other rectangular cases? The brand name on the inside of the case is, "Datt Cases Ltd." out of Canada.

FYI - this could be a Daytona case, I just don't know because it doesn't look like any of my other Hamer cases. I'm wondering if this might be an older style case?

Thanks.

Does it have the Hamer USA logo on gold on the top? If not then a generic case.

Hamer cases were made in Canada. But they varied endlessly in size and locks/catches over the years. The cases were stacked up at the factory and used in no particular order which can obscure any clear pattern in case design. Daytona cases should be more uniform but Chaparral-type cases were really variable.

Which means that even if a it's a Hamer case something other than a Daytona could belong in there.

Oh yeah, its got the gold factory Hamer logo on the front. I just want to make sure whatever guitar gets stored in it has the proper amount of neck support - certainly not too much pressure either.

Thanks for the input.

What's wrong with a Strat case for a Daytona?

I'm just a little weird about preferring to have my Hamers in their correct factory cases - which are nice. :)

My Daytona (all four of them actually) came in the wrong or two in non-Hamer cases. This last one which I've kept came to me in a T-62 / Vintage S case and had been obviously pressed in there to fit - which - after a few years - does now.

Having this last correct Daytona case will allow me to move a few Hamers around into their correct cases now and there will be harmony in my little OCD Hamer case universe!

I would not be worried about storing a Daytona in a generic Strat case as the Daytona is a Strat copy. I would not store a Hamer Studio or Artist in a Les Paul case because the Les Paul has a different neck angle than the set neck Hamer's.
