For the first time EVER I have a Hamer that I can't get to play like coconut oil!
A few months back I bought a USA Black 90's Duotone. I had a natural one before that.
I just can't get it setup to my liking!
I started out at a regular Gibson factory-type setup. So, it was middle of the road neck relief, nut settings, and string height at the 12th fret. I shimmed the bridge to get to measurements that have always worked for me in the past. Plays ok but I still get a lot of fret buzz playing bar chords around the 5-8th fret area. Chords down by the nut play basically buzz free. Even up at the 12th fret things aren't bad...just buzzy in the middle of the neck?
I've never had to take my guitar to a repair shop and have always been very happy with my guitar setups. I know with the acoustic bridge of the Duotone I won't get shredder-like measurements and playability but my Alvarez Yairi DY-62C strung with 10's plays circles around this Duotone strung with 9's...and does so without buzz!! I have some DR Zebra strings coming which I liked on my previous Duotone. They are the 9 tops and 10 bottoms. That may help with some of the buzz on the low strings.

Any advice?
