Price Check: '89 Sunburst

Question

I tracked down the guy in Florida selling his '89 Sunburst in Dallas. While I've enjoyed trying to single-handedly drive Hamer prices up, I think it's time to try that other approach you guys use of buying low. So, I wanted to get HFC expert opinion on his asking price v. market price v. good price.

Also, other than the neck contour, how does an '89 Sunburst differ from, say, an '80?

As always, your guidance is appreciated.

Placement of the bridge pickup to the Sustainblock. It's significantly farther away on the post '88 models, which DEFINITELY changes the tone. They also came with Duncans v. Dimarzios, slightly wider headstock and IIRC, a flatter radius.

On 89-90 Sunbursts it's still a veneer, although book matched. The sustain block will possibly have silly channels for the saddles.

The Duncans sound hugely different to the original Dimarzios. Fatter, I suppose. Chris is right that the bridge pickup is further away and that also make that pickup a bit fuller sounding.

It will still be nitrocellulose lacquer. That can go very brown over the binding but this can be buffed out easily.
