diablo175 Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Found a beloved guitar finish product being sold in the UK and was hoping I could get someone to help acquire it. Not sure if it will go through the post as it's not available for shipping to the USA through the manufacturer but... Reasonably sure that most shipping companies would not ship it as it's in a pressurized rattle can and likely banned in the USA because of some lovely chemicals in the paint. If anyone knows of a reputable, reliable finisher in the UK or Europe who'd be willing to use said product and finish a guitar, I would pay for the service. Snake Crackle Paint Jem? David? Ben?
mrjamiam Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 That is some cool-looking stuff right there!
paulfury Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Hi diablo175,I'm in the UK. I think the reason they don't ship is most air carriers refuse aerosols (presurissed hold, bad idea etc). I've asked if they know of any regulatory reason why it couldn't go to the US - if there's no barrier there you might only need a UK buyer who could ship it surface mail for you? It's slow, but relatively cheap and probably better than shipping a body back and forth?I'll let you know what they say when they come back to me. Cheers all,Paul

I appreciate the assist! Your help is just another reason why the HFC is one of the best forums on the 'net! ETA- It's also another reason I salute my Limey HFC brethren, as those I have been fortunate to come to know are stand up people with a superb taste in humor, guitars, libations and rainwear.
paulfury Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 No worries! Hopefully they'll reply with something useful.I'm originally a Londoner but have lived in Manchester for 18 years. Serious rainwear is essential!Unfortunately for me I'm not yet a Hamer owner, something I hope to rectify! Unfortunately my taste appears to be "the one everyone wants that costs a lot" ;-)Will keep you posted if/when they reply to me.Cheers!P
paulfury Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 OK, had a reply from the company now - It's purely the aerosol nature of the paint that presents a problem for air shipping, no EPA regulations to worry about. SO you could buy some aerosols and get them shipped surface mail, which doesn't have these restrictions, OR you could get the non-aerosol version of the paint, which can be shipped to the US without any problems, and get someone Stateside with a spray booth to do the finishing for you?http://customcreationpaints.co.uk/Vreeble-effect-spray-paint/crackel-paint?product_id=112Hope this helps! If you're set on the aerosols give me a shout, I'll see what I can sort out from here. Will PM you the reply in full I had from the company too.Cheers,P

Looking forward to the next catch up when you're this way. Rock on! No worries m8, that Paul bloke has things well in hand. Gonna crackle paint a shredder! That will bring to a close my pursuit of the collection of 80's inspired graphic finishes I've been wanting to recreate. Rising Sun, Snakeskin, Checks, Comic book, Bengal Tiger, Neon/day-glo and finally, Crackle. Rest assured, I will bring one of them when I visit for drinks.
