It's a horrible shame, I'm really sorry folks live with so much physical pain. My wife was in oxycontin after complications with a c-section, and she was a shell of her radiant self the whole time she was taking them. She tells me she didn't feel anything of care about anything at all. For whatever reason she didn't get any of the euphoria that normally comes with it, and never had any withdrawal. Whew, those were some rough times.

My stock "joke" response when people ask me "Does it help the pain?"

"It doesn't do much for the pain, but you don't care."

That's a perfect description, I also became an "expert" in wound care over the next 3 months

opiates are serious drugs folks, you are only hearing about the famous people dropping off beceause of 'em, and not the regular folks. It scares me 'cause I've seen how they are prescribed like candy.

people go to a Dr with the anticipation of getting a prescription to help them feel better, MOST people don't NEED drugs like that, and don't know how to treat them(with respect and fear) and then when they are using them, they really just don't care. For MOST people coming off those drugs is WAY harder than continuing to use them. They are a HUGE money maker, and are easy to get prescriptions for. A HORRIBLE combination

 I had a pretty minor operation about a year ago to remove a cyst and could not talk the doctor out of writing me a prescription for Vicodin. In the end, I didn't even take ibuprofen because what was done simply didn't hurt. Yet I still ended up with a bottle full of opiates.

I had surgery in January and had morphine in the hospital which I used sparingly even though I was told to get up and wal which I did. Used it more for my knees than surgery pain. Used it for two days "Dilaudid"after coming home, went to Tylenol. Recently had a 10 day stay in the hospital due to an abscess  and major infection and a procedure to drain abscess with 8-9 pain more then previous surgery. Used morphine sparingly for three days, went to Percocet to sleep at night for a few nights. Used for two days at home to sleep for first two nights then went to Tylenol. Guess I am freaked out about opioid addiction. This shit is serious and God help those who go down the rabbit hole. Should have been an alcoholic many years ago "high school years" but I think it's really a physical make up as I drink with the best of them but don't have a physical need to do so. Drug companies make a ton of money from this shit! Tolerate the pain if possible! Too many fall prey to this shit and it can kill you!
