itchyrichy Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 I'm trying to find a USA made 4 string Cruise bass. Anyone out there have one or know of one for sale? I'm in the Boston area but given the apparent rarity of this rig I'm sure that I'll end up buying one sight unseen. Thanks!
cmatthes Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Are you looking for the first generation set neck Cruisebass from the early/mid 80s, or the bolt-on mid-90s version? If the latter, do you prefer the 2TEK or the Gotoh bridge? That'll help narrow it down - those are ALL great basses.
itchyrichy Posted January 3, 2006 Author Posted January 3, 2006 Back in the early 90's (ie: 1992) I had a Cruise bass so I'll assume that it was one of the set neck ones. I'd ideally like to get a similar one but I'm interested in any of the American made Cruise basses. I've seen a couple of Korean made 5 string basses but since I haven't played them yet I'd rather go with what I remember. Thanks for the reply!
tonedef Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Good luck on your quest, as that is what it is likely to be. It took me a long time to finally score one (and that was after I gave up trying to land a 2Tek model). It was worth it, tho, what a great bass.Tonedef

itchyrichy Posted January 4, 2006 Author Posted January 4, 2006 Thanks for the fast replies everyone! I've been out of the playing business for 10 years now and want to get back to the set up where I had the most fun. I'll do a search on the forums now but I'm wondering what these Korean 5 strings are like... they seem to appear more often than the USA 4 strings. In fact, 1 eBay auction ends today for a Korean 5 string:http://cgi.ebay.com/Hamer-5-String-Cruise-...1QQcmdZViewItemI think that I might have to readjust my "what I want" meter to more match my cash level and I'm curious about anyones thoughts about the Korean 5'er.Thanks again dudes....
