A tail of two Newports

what's "rodded"?

it has a transducer bridge for acoustic sounds. wired stereo at the output. If you use a standard 1/4 plug you get the electric bits, but if you use a stereo Y cable you get acoustic on one side and electric on the other side.

"Finger" tailpiece?

"The adjustable finger allow a fine adjustment of the contact pressure on the bridge saddles. Thus, the sound character of the instrument can be targeted by: For the benefit of a stronger tone, or to optimize the harmonic structure of the instrument."

really, it lets you adjust the downward pressure on the bridge for each string, kinda' like stringing "over vs under" the tailpiece on a les paul, but for each string. I like having the longer bass strings and shorter treble strings. ymmv ;)

I own a Pro Custom and it sounds AWESOME.  Whilst I have no experience of other Newports mine, which is original, has a very open acoustic sound unplugged.  Plugged in it retains that and is incredibly warm but not boomy if that makes sense.

Mine sounds best with the volume at 8/10ths with medium or higher gain.

Great guitars and also a fine work of art.
