Newport Custom Pro:

not a closet princess, but it is a solid player.

Normal specs:

Medium neck, not as thin as a '94 studio, but not as thick as my 2000 Newport Pro

ebony board 10 crowns

Grover locking tuners with Ebony knobs,  I have the "Imperial" knobs with it

Gold covered Phat Cats!

LR Baggs saddle wired to a stereo jack normal 1/4 cable gets you the electric sounds, and a stereo Y cable will give you the bridge on one side and the electric on the other.

It has a couple of dings in the top and some "fingerprints" on the neck just above the neck joint

Newport Pro:

Normal specs:

Trans Orange Sparkle(trust me, don't google it)

pickups are changed out to Duncan Custom and Duncan Custom Custom it will get sounds from Joe Pass to Santana

Fantastic guitar, has a beefier neck, nothing custom, but @2000 the necks were perfect :)

Bridge/tailpiece were switched out to Tone-Pros locking version

some dings, a chip in the clearcoat on the back of the neck. A scratch in the top between the bridge and tailpiece on the bass side

Ebony Buttons, I have the "Imperial" buttons in a bag for you

You can just barely see the scratch, it's more of an indentation between the tailpiece and the bridge(in the reflection) not through the finish or anything, but it's there

You are making me wanna think about ending my self-imposed time-out on buying.......;)

The Pro Custom is the one version I have not tried. And with piezo and Phat Cats........

what is that tailpiece?  Haven't seen one before.

The tailpiece is stock, but I do have a piece of foam under the lip.  with the acoustic saddles they "hear" on both sides so the foam makes the strings dead on the "wrong" side.

I owned a Newport Pro Custom like that.  Love it with the crowns vs the victory markers.  Whoever did the upgrades did the perfect upgrades.  PhatCat pups, piezo bridge, locking tuners.  IMHO the PhatCats are a must.  Crowns are a must.

Other mods to consider: Lose the big "harp" tailpiece, too much bling for my taste. Replace it with an old style simple Gibson tailpiece like on the BadgerDave model above.  Lose the knurled, gold knobs.  Replace them with bell knobs or speed knobs or dice knobs for that Setzer look.  Get Imperial style tuner buttons in pearloid or ebonyoid.  OR...leave it blinged up to the max in gold for Christmas season gigs, corporate holiday gigs, New Years Eve gigs.

One of the few guits that I miss as my inventory liquidation continues.  Great guitar.  One of Hamer's very best that will be a highly prized collector model in the future.   Cheers!

Thanks for the plug :wub::wub::wub:

It has been asked a couple times so:

Yes I will include the original bridge with the Custom Pro, and from what I can tell there were no modifications to fit the locking tuners. It came with the Grover to begin with so whoever got the locking tuners got ones that would drop right in

Here's all the GOLD-Y bits if you want "options"

The golden PhatCats are shizznit!

Anyone have experiences with the rodded bridge? I have not seen this before except on the Jens Ritter Princess Arabella. Which is another price league.
