tomteriffic Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 So I rediscovered a ratty small-box Fender Bassman cabinet whilst emptying out a storage locker. It pretty much needed new everything by way of hardware, grill ,tolex, etc. My decision to spiff it back up (not restore, really, just give it new shiny bits, etc.) was driven by the knowledge that I had a pair of tilt-back cabinet legs in Buzzard Gulch someplace. I finally found them and, sonnagun, they're the wrong size. They're 16" and I need 14" They're new in the package and I'd like to trade for a14" pair if anyone has them. Or buy a used pair cheep (ancillary hardware negotiable). I've had these for so long that I've no idea where I got them and there's not a prayer of returning them. Anybody?
Jakeboy Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Dibs if you decide to sell the cab....is it blonde or black?
Thundersteel Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Musician's Friend/Guitar Center has the 14" ones for about $35. But I may have an alternative for you: it's called a Standback, and it's been in my closet collecting dust for several years. It's non-permanent, and fits most combos.
tomteriffic Posted September 16, 2016 Author Posted September 16, 2016 The legs on this would be pretty much a cosmetic thing as a previous owner put on pop-out casters and I'm not intending on monkeying around with pulling the casters when I want to tilt the thing back. The casters and their holes pretty well ruled out Sphinx glides too. I may replace the casters themselves since they're total rustbuckets, but the hassle remains. As would the rattles. I'm going to pass on the Standback, although it's a pretty nifty concept. Don't lose track of it, though, OK? OH, BTW, it's black. I'm not doing the tolex right now as I couldn't find anyone locally to do it. It cleaned up reasonably well despite having been at least partially spray painted at some time or another. It looks it's age without looking totally ratted out. Besides, I have some body work/ a few dents to fill before tolex happens.
