Lockbody Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 I was reading about these PU's on Harmony-Central last night, and was wondering if anybody had an opinion of them. They have a fairly big mid-cut and and it might work to take some of the "nasalness" out of my Boogie Mk IV.
Mobster Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 I use them. I like them.Listen to the rhythm sound of nearly any Dream Theater album and that's your sound. To me, they sound better on 25.5 scale guitars than 24.75.I have no idea why.

AdmiralB Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 Triaxis, I think. I've used the SS, it's cool but not my tone. I liked the older MegaDrive better; the SS replaced it as they are similar. The MD had a wee bit more mid and a wee bit less output.I do believe the SS was actually designed for Helmet's Page Hamilton, but Petrucci is by far the most visible user.
Mobster Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 Doesn't he use Boogies? He sure does. Usually Lonestar for the cleans and Road Kings for everything else. It's the setup he's used for nearly the last 3 years.
Mobster Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 Have LoneStars been around that long? I don't think so, Admiral. Probably about 2 years. But he switched out of everything into the Road Kings exclusively once they were released (probably about 3 years ago)Once the Lonestar came out (probably about 2 years ago I guess) he got a couple of those that he just uses for cleans.
black magic Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 Sounds like a pickup I would really like!! Jack.
