Does anybody know a source for the "RAISED" Hamer case lock or latches?.. I have a Cheney type but it's requiring me to route into the case to obtain a flush fit...

I found the exact latches for my Special Case here:

https://guitarandampparts.com/handles-latches-hinges/

I found this info on that site!

NEW Cheney Case Latch Replacement Brass

$10.99

The very new Cheney latch has a new owner. The hasp (top part ) is casted instead of being stamped. The spring is suppose to be stronger ( finally )  and the lock ring is knurled once again instead of plain. Cost a bit more .

Cheney sold that division out some time ago. The new company makes them the same size and dimensions, etc. Except for a couple of small cosmetic changes. The latch is 2 1/4″ long and 1 1/2″ high, as is the original Cheney. The price is per latch. (1)  I HAVE REPAIR KITS with the split rivets in them to fix 2 latches. The kit is 2.00 each, or you can request a single hinge repair kit for 1.00 each.

Most of the NEW Cheney (top, hasp) latches don’t interchange with the VINTAGE ’60’s. The ’70’s and ’80’s are different and the ’90’s etc. don’t interchange either, if you are just trying to replace the top hasp. (the spring breaks in them) So you have to change the top and bottom together

Yeah, I already have the Cheney type but was looking for the original type just to keep them both the original...  I really don't want to change both locks... but looks like I will have to, Maybe just replace one side for now... Thanks for the reply

I just had the case for my 1983 Hamer Phantom XII refurbished. Those are not cheney locks, they are Homa Flush mount hardware. Made in Italy You can see the little airplane on the broken latch. I researched long and hard to find that out. Some Gibson & Fender cases from that era used those as well.  I had to have those latches replaced as well and found a place in Canoga Park Ca. with the exact same replacements. If you are nearby I can provide contact info. Check ebay or reverb but these pieces are RARE.

Here is my fixed latch and lock

Forgot to mention. Try a luggage repair shop, that is where I got mine, The guy wanted to install them himself which was fine with me.

Shoe repair shops will also sometimes fix luggage, if so they might have those old parts around.
