Taking it back but going to play it some more. Sad as it's a great guitar except for the stressed headstock although now I understand why the Special is considered a R&R workhorse. At $975 total too pricey as is.

I will say that GC's return policy does help ease some of the concerns with buying from a distance without personal inspection. Hopefully this issue was just missed in their inspection process.
