currypowder Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Been working on paring down my collection all year and am now at the point of having to dig deep an start listing guitars were originally on the "keeper" list. All 3 are typical MIJ quality and, IMO anyway, punch above their weight. More pictures of all three are available here - https://derbycitygear.net/available 2012 Fujigen Masterfield MSA Semi-Hollow - $1,600 House brand of the famed Fujigen guitar factory in Japan. The MSA Masterfield series is a relatively small semi-hollow build. With a 15" body width, it's smaller than a 335 and just slightly larger than a 339. The build specs of a Masterfield semi-hollow are a bit different than what you will find in a typical semi-hollow. The core of the body is a single piece of mahogany that is hollowed out leaving a solid center piece and sides (see picture link for an example). From there a flame maple top and back is attached. The neck is also mahogany. The finish is a thin poly base coat with a final top coat of lacquer. Pickups are Fujigen made Alnico 3 humbuckers. This particular guitar has a beautiful blonde finish over a nicely figured 1 piece flame maple top and back. Build quality is typical Fujigen that I find to be Custom Shop quality. Weight and neck specs are: Weight - 6.5 pounds Neck width - 1.72" at the nut, 2.11" at the 12th fret Neck Depth - 0.83" at the nut, 0.97" at the 12th fret I would describe the condition as very good with only slight playwear. Frets have a little wear, especially under the G & B strings, but not enough to affect playability or need any attention, IMO. Original Hard Case and warranty card is included. Momose Telecaster, Natural Ash and Rosewood Fretboard - $1,450 Momose is Japanese made under the Deviser group of guitar brands. Over the years, I have found them to be among the best guitars I have owned and played. This one is no exception. This one is an ash body with a natural finish and red pearl pickguard. I believe that the pickguard is a replacement as it came to me with a black pickguard as well (which will be included). Everything is original to the best of my knowledge and I believe the pickups are Momose Twang 50s which I like as a lower output tele pickups. It's in pretty good shape, though there is some playwear. Nothing through the finish, though. The frets have just a little wear, but nothing requiring any attention, IMO. Weight is 7.6 pounds. Neck is a 9.5" radius with what I would describe as a medium carve with the following measurements: Width - 1.65" at the nut, 2.05" at the 12th fret Depth - 0.84" at the nut, 0.95" at the 12th fret Comes with a Momose branded tweed hard case. Edwards Keith Richards Micawber Tribute Relic - $850 Back in the mid 2000's Edwards released a series of artist tribute guitars. To my knowledge, these were never official artist models, but it's typically pretty easy to tell which famous artist and guitar is being replicated. This is a Keith Richards Micawber model, based on a 50's tele with a humbucker in the neck position. I believe the body is ash and the neck is maple with a maple fretboard. I find the relicing to be tasteful without being over the top. As are included with most Edwards guitars, the pickups are both Duncans and sound great together. This particular guitar has had a few mods from the original, all done by previous owners: Additional wear has been done on the spot on the upper bout near where the body meets the neck. You can see where more of the finish has been taken off. The original serial number has been removed from the back of the headstock. You can look closely and see the light sanding marks. An F decal has been applied to the front of the headstock. While this guitar originally came with the locking tuners installed, it appears as if a different set of tuners may have been installed at some point as there is a small drill hole under the low E tuner. A Fender brand ashtray bridge is installed. Weight and neck specs are: Weight - 8.0 pounds Neck width - 1.67" at the nut, 2.06" at the 12th fret Neck Depth - 0.85" at the nut, 0.91" at the 12th fret Other than that, the guitar is in very good shape and plays well. The original ESP branded gig bag is included.
analogsystem Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 FGN guitars are so great. I briefly owned a Masterfield and it was a very nice semi-hollow. I liked it as much as the Gibson 335 Satin I (again, briefly) had after the FGN. Guitar roulette for life, haha
bubs_42 Posted October 1, 2021 Posted October 1, 2021 I wish I had that Hardtail Strat I sold you. I do regret selling that one.
