Disturber Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 Man, I am so positively surprised by the Seymour Duncan APH-1 Alnico II Pro with nickel covers that I bought used the other day. I have never tried the Alnico II Pro's before. They rip in my 1993 all mahogany Special. I hardly even had to mess with setting them up, it was almost instant plug and play. To my ears these are very underrated Duncans. I've read raves about the Seth's (which I have tried), and the Pearly Gates (which I also have tried) and the Ants. The A2 Pro's does not seem to get as much love. Even the 59, generic to some as they may be, seem to get more love. And the Slash set. The A2 Pro's seem like the forgotten step child of the bunch. I pulled the trigger just because the were sold cheap. Boy, was I wrong. They sound absolutely stellar. As I have only one guitar with them in to judge from I can't say for certain, but I think I have a new favourite Duncan PAF. Sorry for really sloppy playing here. I recorded this only to hear what they sound like. Not to share. But I am sharing any way, 'cause I feel sadistic. You should all be tormented by my playing. edit for spelling
DaveL Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 A great option for a production pickup. I’ve used them in a few Les Pauls and dig em. Overdrives nicely and a really nice neck pickup tone. Believe these are alnico pro ll’s
