JGale Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 About 14 miles from me. Less if the Parkway was open. I offer my services in procurement.
Jim85IROC Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 I love it! I sent the seller an email to see if they'll ship. If they won't, I may take JGale up on his offer to help.

When I lived in Asheville, it was closed from roughly November through March (at the higher elevations) because it gets icy, rocks loosen and fall on the road, trees fall, etc.
stedge Posted March 3, 2023 Author Posted March 3, 2023 Best time to go running or hiking along it - lived there 3 mos nov-feb in 1994-5. Loved it.

Heavy rains a few years ago wiped out the road in several places where the side of the hill above came loose. Same for a popular spur up Roanoke Mtn. just outside of downtown. The condition of the roadway has been suspect for years and now the lack of funding for maintenance has come home to roost. Park visitation rates are up, so we got that going for us I guess...
Cboss Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Hopefully it gets fixed and open for the summer, many happy memories of riding and driving the parkway :)
