'88 Chaparral hardshell case

I picked up an '88 Chaparral recently, which of course had no case with it.  I know OHSCs are hard to come by.   I was wondering what the cases looked like from the factory (shaped or rectangular) back in the day.   I still haven't decided if I'll just use a newer aftermarket one or spend the time trying to hunt down an age-appropriate one.  Thoughts?

Cool guitars.  They should be rectangular cases as seen here:  https://reverb.com/item/10319169-1988-hamer-usa-chaparral-custom-100-original-boomerang-blue-great-cond-ohsc-free-usa-shipping

The cases look to be made by TKL and are of the "end bound" variety.  So if the lack of a logo doesn't bother you, they can still be had new.  https://www.tkl.com/products/21231-tkl-ltdtm-end-bound-universal-electric-guitar-case

There is another dimension where all of the missing cases, truss rod and cavity control covers go never to be found again.

I'd keep an eye out for a proper case, someday, and until one pops up:

I would frequent the local pawn shops asking about any spare cases they might have in the back.  I don't think the Hamer cases were very specific to the Hamer shapes, so quite a few TKL should fit.  I posted this a while ago, of course I bought the LP case, but almost left the ESP case there, my Cali is now resting more comfortably.  Sadly, the ESP cases are not affordable new, but as an example of another case that will probably work

Thanks guys.  Very helpful.  I’d like to visit that dimension.  I suspect all of my wayward socks are there too.

It’s just where they all go…along with the original Hamer “Posi-Grip” knobs from the 80s.

Since the cases were not made by Hamer, is it forbidden to 'silkscreen' (?) a Hamer usa logo on an otherwise proper case?

I haven't done this, I don't plan to, but I wouldn't be surprised if it has been done, and I'm sure many non-original non-logo'd cases for other brands have been passed off as ohsc.  Sort of coincidentally, the case my Special came with has remnants of a Gibson logo on it.

Along with the vocoder microphones for all of the earth's Korg microKORG synths!
