PSA - 82 Special

Was in the Guitar Center in Fairfax VA, and spotted a 82 Hamer Special (only usually go there to look for used stuff or music software). It's had a bit of a rough life, but is far from what I would term a "beater". Some of the veneer missing in the SB bridge area and on one outside edge. Worming on back, but little thru the finish. Non-original pup ring on bridge, with correct color (creme) pup, but suspect it's not original either. A couple of chips on headstock, but nothing major at all. Neck reminds me a lot of my 81 Vector; wider and flatter than 79 Sunbursts.

$599 with a beater OHSC (handle replaced with leather strips). I mostly posted this for lurkers who've never tried an early Hamer, this is a great opportunity. If you like it, you can even buy it!

What is SB short for?

It has a veneer top, not a solid top?

All the production Hamers from that era were maple veneer; albeit a ONE Piece veneer, no bookmatch. One piece mahogany body. Sunbursts, Specials, and Vectors (plus maybe five Blitzes?). Don't know if I've ever seen a Prototype with a maple top.

The Special is essentially the Sunburst without the binding.

Exs of Sustain Blocks:
