Jon C Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Real beauty. Too pricy for me, but love it. I believe it is a 1990 if I understand my serial numbers for Hamer accurately. Not sure what would cause the spotting on the headstock and truss cover. I didn't know SD pickups on USA Calis were branded....the ones I have are unlabeled. Gorgeous. https://reverb.com/item/82216166-hamer-californian-elite-1988-1992-all-original?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=17682351984&utm_content=campaignid=17682351984_adgroupid=143800496052_productpartitionid=1946021698791=merchantid=5363633372_productid=82216166_keyword=_device=c_adposition=_matchtype=_creative=608998621633&gad_source=4&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIm-HYvcOchgMVHqpaBR2lAw9WEAQYAiABEgKEMPD_BwE

topekatj Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 IMO Any solidbody guitar selling for $5K outta be self-cleaning
Jon C Posted May 21, 2024 Author Posted May 21, 2024 Hopefully it is dust, but I think its pitted. Its just a guess but I think it was used at an outdoor concert at a military base, on clear day, where the Blue Angels were performing, on a Saturday in June, the owner had special access to the runway, got to close during the low altitude fly by, got sprayed with rocks from the exhaust from Blue Angel #3, dropped his hot dog and was only able to use his body in time to shield the guitar except for the headstock. Just a guess, as I said, but what else could it be, really? (I suspect the back of his clothes he wore that day have the same pitting).
Cboss Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 It is not pitted, that is just a major bunch of dust that got wet, repeatedly..or jizzed as Dave suggests Somehow the left leg of the m in Hamer took a hit and that is scraped away, the rest of it would clean up very nicely Every one of these I've gotten, that black headstock looks like shit; some 3M perfectit on a low speed cotton buffer, 15 seconds of passes over it followed by hand Compound with the same, then wax and it looks like a black bottomless mirror
Jon C Posted May 21, 2024 Author Posted May 21, 2024 But, but.....Blue Angels........exhaust........rocks. ;<)
